Commercial news: HPP secures permission for large industrial extension in Cotswolds
On behalf of Godwin Pumps Limited, Hunter Page Planning has successfully secured planning permission for a large factory extension to their manufacturing plant in Quenington, Cirencester. The rural location of the site and its constrained nature both in terms of size and very close proximity to neighbouring residential properties presented a challenging planning brief.
The proposal comprised a large extension to the main factory building and provision of a new staff car park on a greenfield paddock adjacent to the factory. The successful negotiation of the scheme required a carefully considered consultation with the local community and presentation of a comprehensive planning case to Cotswold District Council.
The planning case focused on the importance of Godwin Pumps as a local employer and also the sensitive nature of the proposed development. Principle issues which were successfully addressed related to the scale of development, visual impact, noise, traffic, landscaping and impact on neighbouring properties including sun-lighting. Whilst the proposed expansion was simply required to meet the needs of an expanding business, HPP master planned the scheme to ensure and overall enhancement of the site for both the client and local residents.
